Neil Thyer – Director and Founder

Neil Thyer is a proven performer in mapping business challenges to information technology solutions, and ‘Bridging the Gap’ for SMEs and multinational enterprises alike.

Since 1995, Neil has developed his IT expertise and leadership in areas such as business analysis, project management, and strategic and resource planning. He has also gained in-depth experience across a broad range of IT disciplines, from software engineering to facilities management.

Drawing on this background, Neil established E-Novate in 2008 to provide IT consulting services tailored specifically for the travel and tourism industry.

Through his hands-on approach, whether he is delivering strategic advice or assisting with practical applications, Neil has built a track record of positive return on investment for his clients.

Most recently, he has created and implemented a procurement strategy for the selection of a new global distribution system (ie. reservations platform) in a multi-million dollar contract for a multinational travel company. The strategy achieved the targeted financial benefits for the company while reducing the overall cost and timeframe for procurement.

Neil has also provided project management, business analysis and process re-engineering to build the IT infrastructure for new travel agency sites in China and Singapore, and to implement new mid and back office systems in Singapore, Philippines and the United Arab Emirates.

Prior to establishing E-Novate in 2008, Neil was Chief Information Officer for FCm Travel Solutions Greater China (2005-2007), where he developed and implemented an IT strategy to meet the operational and legislative needs of a high-growth, multinational business. His achievements included establishing a sustainable IT infrastructure in China and Hong Kong, setting up new offices in Beijing and Guangzhou, compressing new onsite client rollouts from 3 months to 2 weeks, and creating a nationwide call centre phone system.

While at FCm Travel Solutions, Neil also developed his skills in resource and system capacity planning, managing operating and capital expenditure, and the development of internal service standards.

From 1995 to 2004, Neil held Australia-based roles with global software specialist and facilities management company Mincom and then with the highly respected international data security companies RSA Security and Vasco Data Security. During this time he focused on software architecture and design, embedded systems development, and systems management.

Neil has a Bachelor of Applied Science (Computing) from the Queensland University of Technology in Brisbane, Australia. He offers a proven strong working knowledge of software development project management, lifecycle and development methodologies, and has developer skills in multiple languages and environments.
